The view from the mountain peak was awesome in the true meaning of the word. A thin layer of clouds below and mountains all around. Asher and her golden eagle surveyed the skies and mountainside for prey. The couple worked well together after years getting to know each other, the foxes and hares didn’t stand a chance. If Asher and her eagle didn’t get their kill, there were other falconers among the Mongolian hunting party to ensure that no-one went hungry.
Asher knew that the day would come when she would set her eagle free, and as a parting gift leave a butchered sheep on the mountain. The female eagle would go on to rear her own young and the next generation of eagle hunters would take her place.
